All CPL SWITCHES sockets
incorporate Phosphorous-Bronze contacts which have proved
themselves to be more effective than brass. Needless to say that brass
being half the cost is used by most manufacturers. |
All current supply contacts in the Silver range of switches are of Silver Cadmium Oxide which is ideal for applications where a high potential arc exists. These contacts offer high resistance to corrosion, high mechanical strength, low contact resistance, good arc - interrupting capabilities and maximum resistance to arc erosion. | |

| The
heart of the switch is a good insulating F.R.B.P Tube. Each and every
insulating tube when fitted with live contacts is tested for a high
voltage test of 2.5 KV for 1 minute. Also sections are thicker and
uniform.

Terminals are shielded to avoid contact with live metal parts. The switch is so designed that it is impossible to open the cover till the switch is completely switched off. All live contact fixing screws are sealed with Bitumen sealing compound which does not melt below 100o C. Insulating Prespan paper is placed below the porcelain for additional insulation. | |

Enclosures (16A to 63A rating) are made up of 1 piece deep drawn Steel Sheet. As they are pressed in tools and modern machines each and every piece is uniform in size and shape. Also being one piece it is virtually dust proof. Sufficient knockouts are provided at appropriate places to avoid unnecessary bending of incoming and outgoing cables. Knockout is provided at the back for rear entry & on the side for looping of the switch. The switch enclosures are made from rust protected sheet steel having a coating of zinc chromatic primer and stoved enamel of Berger paints, industrial quality having very high lustre and viscosity. |
The whole switching
mechanism is encased in a housing. Hence replacement of same is possible
in case of necessity, although chances of failure is very remote. |

| Terminals
are made from drawn-brass castings having dimension stability and free
from draw lines as they are drawn in Carbide dies. The terminals are screw pinching type. Brass studs of a larger diameter having radius edge is used to minimize damage to the conductors. |
For any good switchfuse unit porcelain is very important. CPL Switchgear uses the best porcelain available. These porcelains are baked in a tunnel kiln at a uniform temperature of 1200o C. This process ensures uniform color and curing, while porcelain baked in conventional coal fired dome furnace are sub-standard having uneven surface finishing and curing. | |
